About this course

This course enables delegates to learn expert-level skills to get the most of out of Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2013. Delegates will be introduced and educated in a number of topics that include: linking internal data to a site page, organizing data view information, formatting data views, configuring data view displays and managing data with the data view, adding controls to the data view, managing the data view web part, InfoPath and SharePoint Designer, InfoPath web parts, using Visio to create and complete workflow diagrams.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should have completed the SharePoint Designer course “Core Essentials Advanced” or have equivalent knowledge.

 

Course content

  • Linking Internal Data to a Site Page

This opening module shows students how to set up an internal data source, how to create an XSLT data view from a data source, and how to create an empty data view.

  • Organizing Data View Information

Here, students will learn about parameters and they will learn how to filter data in a view and sort and group data in a view.

  • Formatting Data Views

This module looks at data views and more specifically, how to: show and hide sample data and the totals row, apply styles to data views, and change the toolbar display.

  • Configuring the Data View Display

The look at data views continues here where students will learn how to: set paging options for a data view, add and remove columns from a data view, configure update procedures for a data view, and enable/disable inline editing.

  • Managing Data using the Data View

Students will learn more here about data views, including how to: manage data source connections, use the data source details pane, refresh data, and change the folder pane.

  • Adding Controls to the Data View

This module focuses on adding controls to a data view and shows students the ways to: insert controls into a data view, use the toolbox, add a form action, and preview the data view.

  • Managing the Data View Web Part

The topics covered here in this module are how to: change the title of a data view, change the chrome settings, set the height and width, and choose what actions to follow.
